Leicestershire Round - One down.
The good news is that a kind non LFA member has stepped forwarded to take on the role of volunteer warden for the Newtown Linford to Woodhouse Eaves section of the Leicestershire Round. My sincere thanks to her. That leaves the position of volunteer warden between High Cross and Burbage section still vacant. If you would like to know more about the role, please get in touch. Fancy being a warden?
As you know the Leicestershire Round is a popular long distance route devised by the LFA. I believe the Association has a duty to try and keep the route as safe and trouble free for all walkers to enjoy. The Volunteer Warden Scheme was introduced to try and achieve that ambition, with each volunteer adopting a section of the route and visiting it at least once a year, and reporting any issues. Trouble at Mill
Recently it has come to light that walkers on the Leicestershire Round are trespassing onto private land at Claybrooke Mill, situated between Frolesworth and Claybrooke Parva, travelling in that direction. Signage at the mill has been improved which should help negotiate the area. However, it may be that walkers are misreading the narrative on page 83 of the latest edition of the Leicestershire Round Guidebook, which covers that area.
