WEDNESDAY WALKS

The 6 mile walk on Wednesday, 26th May, was from the Blue Bell Inn car park in Hoby, led by Tom Brooks. Unlike last week, when the weather was lovely, this week was grey and cloudy from the start and even decided to drizzle on us towards the end of the walk. Twenty-eight of us walked down the Wreake Valley, via Rotherby and Brooksby to Rearsby, where we stopped for drinks by the ford, before returning on the other side of the Wreake Valley to Hoby.

Our walk next week (Wednesday, 2nd June) is from The Windmill Inn at Brascote, Newbold Verdon (LE9 9LE), led by Anne Constable. We’re using the pub car park, although the pub itself will not be open for either toilets or delightful drinks afterwards. There are, however, picnic benches outside at the rear of the pub, so walkers could always bring a picnic, if it’s a sunny day.

On Wednesday, 9th June, David Williams will lead a walk from Asfordby Football Club, Hoby Road, Asfordby. LE14 3TL. There are still a few gaps in our Wednesday Walks programme in August and beyond, so if anyone would like to lead a walk of between 5-6 miles long, starting at 10am, from any place which has room for 15-20 cars to park, then please get in touch with either Averil or Anne, the Wednesday Walks Co-ordinators.
