The walk last Wednesday, 30th June, led by Ellie Webster and attended by 24 of us, was 5.8 miles long from Thornton Reservoir to the Ratby Burroughs and back. The weather was kind to us again with sunny intervals, although it was a bit wet underfoot.
The walk this week on Wednesday, 7th July, is led by Dave Pollard from Billesdon. Parking will be in village centre, including outside The New Greyhound Inn, which isn’t open until 4pm. The walk starts as usual at 10am when all walkers have registered with Averil, one of the Walks Co-ordinators.
Next Wednesday, 14th July, the walk will be led by Chris Bancroft from the Dorothy Avenue playing fields car park, which is free, in Glen Parva.
Advanced Notice: The Summer Picnic/Barbecue will take place on Wednesday, August 4th, in Anne Constable’s Garden in Brascote, Newbold Verdon, with a short, slower walk and a longer, faster walk beforehand. The Walks Co-ordinators would appreciate knowing in advance who will be attending for catering purposes. This will be a charity fundraising event in aid of Faraja Support, a Leicester-based charity started by Mike and Helen Ross which runs a Tanzanian orphanage.
