Wednesday Walks

The walk last Wednesday, 7th July, was led by Dave Pollard and attended by 23 of us. It was 6.3 miles long, from outside the New Greyhound, Billesdon, to Rolleston (via the medieval village of Frisby) and back via Skeffington Vale. The weather was kind to us yet again with sunny intervals and rising temperatures.

The walk this week on Wednesday, 14th July, will be led by Chris Bancroft from the Dorothy Avenue playing fields car park (free) in Glen Parva (LE2 9JD). Again, please be there before 10am for registration. Next week’s walk on Wednesday, 21st July, will be from the car park of the Greyhound, Botcheston (LE9 9FF), although the pub itself won’t be open. There will be two walks; one shorter and slightly slower, the other longer and slightly faster.

Advanced Notice: The Summer Picnic/Barbecue will take place on Wednesday, 4th August, in Anne Constable’s Garden in Brascote, Newbold Verdon (LE9 9LE), with shorter and longer walks beforehand. For catering purposes, the Walks Co-ordinators would appreciate knowing in advance who will be attending, so please tell them or email/phone them accordingly. This will be a charity fundraising event in aid of Faraja Support (a Leicester-based charity set up by Mike & Helen Ross) which runs a Tanzanian orphanage. There’ll be a stall with Tanzanian goods for sale (cash only).
