The group meeting at Newtown Linford church
Seventeen members and friends supported this Saturday walk, visiting, Ulverscroft Priory, Beacon Hill, Windmill Hill and Bradgate Park. Under blue sky the party assembled at the Parish Church at Newtown Linford.
Passing the ruins of Ulverscroft Mill, the walk continued alongside the river Lin before joining a farm track leading to Ulverscroft Priory. The walk progressed to Beacon Hill and close to the summit we came across a shepherd and a ram carved from oak.

The walk continued to Windmill Hill where access was gained to the base of the old windmill. Climbing about twenty steps, very good views looking to the East were obtained. After crossing Longcliffe Golf course the party arrived at Old John in Bradgate Park. There were masses of people walking to the ruins of Lady Jane Grey’s house and needless to say the car park was over-flowing. Some members on the walk made use of the tea rooms!
