A combined walk with Loughborough Ramblers on 27th December, 2014 attracted eighteen walkers. The two Brians’ shared leadership of the group which walked in snowy conditions with lovely sunshine to keep us company. This walk started from Newtown Linford church and visited ‘Little John’, Whittington Rough, Whittington Grange Farm, before arriving at Markfield church for lunch.
Following lunch the walk continued to Cliffe Hill quarry and at the highest point of the walk, lovely views were afforded. In particular Billa Barra Hill and Bardon Hill and the war memorial in Bradgate Park .
Our way back to the start of the walk, followed the Leicestershire Round recreational route passing Cover Cloud Wood and John Lee’s Wood.
