Permissive access to Naseby battlefield

Wednesdays walk from the “Red Lion” at Sibbertoft led by Martin revealed a present surprise in that a permissive path to part of the Naseby battlefield was located. When walking along the road from Sibbertoft to Naseby, a footpath leaves the road on a sharp left hand bend following a farm track. At Grid Reference SP676821 the footpath leaves the track. If you continue along the farm track the permissive way is marked by white posts.

In about half a mile you arrive at the place where the Royalist Army led by Prince Rupert was lined up to fight the Cromwell model army. A few information boards can be viewed on a raised platform in a diamond shape with benches and a picnic table.

For more information about the battle visit the website www.naseby.com  A battlefield trail guide can be downloaded.
