Letter from Secretary

The Letter following has been sent to all members :-

Dear Member,

We hope you are keeping safe and well at this difficult time and are able to continue to walk our lovely footpaths.

Your committee is mindful of the current health and safety restrictions imposed on us and would like to reassure you that our members health and well being is our priority.

We would like to thank Bob Stokoe, Pete Chaplin and Robert Hancock for their work as walk organisers as they have now resigned from their leadership. We would be extremely grateful if you would give some thought to becoming a walk organiser for the Saturday or Wednesday groups when we restart our walks again sometime next year. Please feel free to contact any member of the committee for further information about the role. Without walk organisers we will be unable to produce a future programme of walks.

The committee has also been considering our AGM due to take place on 27th February 2021. In the light of current restrictions concerning Covid-19 and the likely extension of these into 2021. Reference was made to current Charity Commission advice and the LFA constitution. Although it would be possible to cancel the AGM it was agreed that members should have the opportunity to agree to the proposal that committee members and officers remain the same for 2021. It was agreed that a short virtual meeting via a zoom session should be offered in place of the planned AGM. Reports would be available as usual via the Annual report. Members would be invited to contact committee members prior to the session with any questions so that the meeting could remain brief and focused.

We will be sending out details of how to join the virtual session when we send out the Annual Report and notification of the AGM in January 2021.

If you would like to express any thoughts about the proposed virtual AGM please contact me or any of the committee members, we would certainly like to hear your views.

The committee recognizes that costs for the LFA have been minimal this year and therefore all current members’ subscriptions for 2020 will extend throughout 2021 and there will therefore be no further subscription payment due for 2021.

With very best wishes to you all

Signed – C West.

On behalf of the committee of Leicestershire Footpath Association
