Leicestershire Round at Shackerstone station

Some good news after two years of closure footpath S68, part of the Leicestershire Round, has a much improved diversion route. The bridge over the station remains closed but it is no longer necessary to walk half a mile along Barton Lane to use footpath S83.

The short alternative route has been provided after LCC negotiated with the landowner, the Crown Estate and their tenants. LCC has installed a stile to allow access onto bridleway S80. The map below shows the route and the site notice makes clear that this is still a temporary solution until the bridge is repaired or replaced.
