Just over the border

The Notts Wolds Way is a new linear path of 26 miles being set up by the Nottinghamshire Footpaths Preservation Society with the support of Nottinghamshire County Council and with the aid of a grant from Ramblers Holidays Charitable Trust. The path, from Bunny to Cropwell Butler is divided into 4 linear stages each passing through an attractive and interesting part of south Nottinghamshire. Although there are a few short road sections, the route is mostly on  rights of way in the form of field and woodland paths and tracks. It makes use of several paths which have been recently added to the Definitive Map and which have yet to find their way onto even the latest OS maps.

Notts Wolds Way

The route has been comprehensively way-marked throughout with a characteristic black arrow on a  white background. A 24 page colour booklet is currently being prepared which gives detailed walk instructions and information on points of interest along the route. When complete the brochure will also be available online.

It is planned to launch the walk at 10.00am in Bunny Village Hall on Tuesday 23rd August 2016 followed by a walk of the first stage from Bunny to Willoughby on the Wolds at 10.30am, (6 miles). As it is a linear walk, anyone interested in walking should meet at the lay-by 1/4 mile north of West Thorpe, Willoughby, on the Wysall road (just south of the electricity sub-station) between 9.15 and 9.40am, in order to car share back to Bunny. We should complete the walk in time for a late lunch but will be stopping en-route for a short refreshment break.
