In 2002 Ordnance Survey geographically pinpointed the centre of England. In June 2013 a plaque was attached to an up-turned railway sleeper to mark the position although an arrow indicates the centre is 150 metres to the East. Rearsby walking group and a few members of the Leicestershire Footpath Association became the first group of walkers to visit the site.

Permissive access at present has to be arranged with the owner of Lindley Hall Farm, near Fenny Drayton. It is hoped negotiations can take place in 2014 for access to be improved, perhaps by linking two dead end footpaths.
