Bosworth Battlefield update

Not another Richard III story but another battle won.

Several years ago, the Leicestershire Footpath Association queried the correct route of the Leicestershire Round using bridleway T69 around the Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre. The Definitive line was blocked by locked gates although an alternative waymarked path was available close by.

We are delighted to hear that the correct route is now open, available and waymarked. The picture shows the new bridleway gates and field gates at the start of the section to Sutton Cheney.

Although only a minor deviation from the definitive line we are disappointed to hear that the opening up required some extended negotiations with management at the Battlefield Centre because the site is managed by none other than Leicestershire County Council.

A good result for walkers, riders and the Rights of Way staff including the newly appointed inspector for that area, our old friend Andrew Poole.
