EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS CARD
Hi All, The 2024 AGM open forum highlightged a health issue experienced by one of our walk leaders during the walk. Following discussion it was agreed that all walkers should be encouraged to carry with them an Emergency Contact Card which could be accessed in the event of an emergency. Members circulated some examples that they currently use. The committe thought it might be helpful to give you all an example that you may wish to complete and carry with you on your walks. I therefore attach an example.
It was also noted that many mobile phones have space for emergency contact details and Dave Pollard has kindly provided the following description of how he can access his.
As promised the way I got my contact details on the front page of my mobile was through Settings, Lock Screen and Contact Details. I have a Samsung Android and if you have something different it may not be found in this way. If so, and your mobile skills are as rudimentary as mine, you may find your grandchildren can fix it for you. Or someone else’s grandchildren, for that matter. I’m sure their consultancy fees are very reasonable.
All walkers are responsible for their own wellbeing on LFA walks and should not walk if they are feeling unwell or if the walk terrain, as indicated by the walk leader at the prewalk briefing description, is likely to cause them problems. Emergencies are unexpected and rare occurances but should the need arise it would be very helpful to carry an emergency contact card. We hope that you will consider doing so.

I fully agree with Cindy's comments. Can I also recommend, although there is a small financial outlay, that there are some reasonably priced wristbands/bracelets that can be purchased on the internet, where the name of the wearer, details of next of kin, contact numbers etc, can be engraved on the product. I wear one particularly when cycling and walking alone, and will start wearing it when out with the group.
