Leicestershire Round
Leicestershire Round Volunteer Warden Scheme
Warden Vacancy
The 100 mile route of the Leicestershire Round was devised by members to celebrate the centenary of the Leicestershire Footpath Association. The Round is the premier long distance walk in the County, popular with all types of walkers whether completing the whole of the route or as part of a circular walk. In 2012 the volunteer warden scheme was re-introduced where wardens adopted a section of the Round, visiting it at least once a year and reporting back on any problems affecting the route, in an effort to keep the Round as trouble free as possible for fellow walkers.
Recently the longstanding warden for the Mountsorrel to Rearsby section has stood down and therefore a vacancy has arisen. The section is 6.5 miles in length but I will be happy to hear from any LFA members who would be interested in taking over all or part of the section.
I truly believe the scheme makes a difference and is a key objective of the LFA. I find the role of a warden enjoyable and rewarding, and hope members will give it some thought.
If you would like more information about the role and what it entails, please contact David Williams, Leicestershire Round Warden Scheme Co-ordinator either by email; williamstrefonnen@btinternet.com or telephone 01664 812510
