New Coastal Path

*Newly Opened King Charles 111 Coastal Path between Hunstanton and Sutton Bridge* .

Dear member, in this last year of 2024 sections of the new Kings Charles 111 coastal path have opened with an exciting ambition of a complete coastal footpath around the English coastline some 2795 miles (about 4498.12 km). This project is a very welcome addition for footpath users and, I am proposing that we have an opportunity as the Leicestershire Footpath Association to help celebrate the brand new footpath section around Norfolk and Lincolnshire by having a day or two, walking sections of the walk. My target date is the weekend of 17th and 18th of May 2025. Cheap accommodation (and expensive) is available in Kings Lynn. Kings Lynn has a train station, (do-able) from Leicester but not direct. There are frequent buses from Hunstanton and Sutton Bridge to Kings Lynn. As Leicestershire residents, Norfolk and Lincolnshire are considered our go-to nearest seaside. I am particularly interested in a new – seven-mile footpath that opened this year on the edge of the Sandringham Estate near Snettisham Bird Sanctuary. Not everyone is a long-range walker, so we intend to break it into manageable sections. There is no hill walking, infact the heighest point is 43 metres above mean sea level most of the footpath is just above sea level. If you are interested in taking part, please let me know.

More planning needs to be done possibly with a face to face meeting, an email group and or a dedicated WhatsApp group.
